We interpret the new mountain station with a restaurant of the Reisseck railway as a built landscape that is naturally developed out of the topography. The base follows in its curve the contour lines of the terrain and emphasizes this in its stone materiality. The wooden shell of the roof gives shelter from wind and snow. Despite not using the traditional canon of alpine architecture, we believe, this strategy gives a sensitive response to this special site.The exposed position requires a high degree of prefabrication and corresponding transport logistics. Power is supplied largely by renewable forms of energy.
